The things we do
day after day.

Getting dressed and self-care

Looking at the steps your child finds difficult, from using their hands to managing the feel of clothing.

Joining in,
in their own way.

Play and movement

Building on your child’s interests as they explore, move and connect with other people.

Handwriting and school routines

Support with using hands, managing classroom tasks and taking part at school or kinder. For older students, a focused school handwriting & DASH assessment with a written report.

Sensory needs & feelings

Making sense of
a busy world.

Sounds, textures and movement

Noticing what your child seeks out or finds uncomfortable, and adapting activities and surroundings.

Big feelings and overwhelm

Exploring what helps your child feel settled, with support from the adults around them.

You don’t need a diagnosis to contact us.

We work with autistic children, children with ADHD, developmental delay or other support needs, and children without a formal diagnosis. Tell us what you’re noticing; we’ll talk about whether Seeds is a suitable fit.

A manageable place to begin.

We look at the small parts of a routine: the steps to remember, how it feels and the help around your child. Together, we try a useful starting point and adjust it to fit your family’s day.

GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER

Getting started,
step by step.

You don’t have to know what support you need before you contact us. Start with what you’ve noticed and what matters to your family.

  1. Tell us a little about your child

Send an enquiry with your suburb and what you’d like help with. No referral is needed. We’ll reply within two days.

    Send an enquiry
  2. We look for a suitable OT

Nisha Bal, our founder and principal OT, reviews new enquiries. We consider your child’s needs, your location and therapist availability. Our admin team gets back to you about suitable options.

  3. A conversation before we visit

Once you’ve decided to go ahead with therapy, your OT gets in touch to introduce themselves and plan your first visit. You can share what helps your child feel comfortable.

  4. Understanding your child’s needs

The first visit helps us understand your child’s strengths and what they find difficult. We hear from you and observe how they play, move and take part.

    At home, school or kinder
  5. Goals we work on together

Sessions focus on your child’s goals. We talk with you about what we’re noticing and adapt sessions as your child’s needs change. We can work with teachers and other providers, with your consent.

THE SEEDS WAY OF WORKING

Your OT, with a team
behind them.

Our OTs work with Seeds as independent subcontracted practitioners. Each chooses their caseload and plans support with you. We look for a therapist whose experience, approach and availability could be a good fit for your child and family over time.

Space for clinical work

There are no weekly billing targets or minimum caseloads. Your OT uses their professional judgement to plan support around your child. Seeds handles enquiries, referrals and billing.

People to turn to

Your therapist can draw on mentoring, supervision and conversations with Nisha and other Seeds OTs. You have a relationship with your own OT, supported by a wider team.

A sustainable practice

Seeds prioritises fair remuneration, putting as much as we can towards the OTs doing the work while keeping the practice sustainable. Supporting our therapists is part of how we support families.

A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you
get in touch.

If your question isn’t here, you can include it in your enquiry.

Do we need a referral or diagnosis?

No referral is needed to contact Seeds, and your child doesn’t need a formal diagnosis. Tell us what you’re noticing and what you would like help with. Funding requirements can differ, so we can discuss those separately.

Can you visit school or kindergarten?

Yes. Sessions can take place at home, school, kinder or in the community. Your OT will discuss a suitable setting with you and coordinate with the school or kinder where needed.

What if my child takes time to warm up?

Some children need longer to get to know a new person. We follow your child’s interests and adjust how we introduce activities. Tell your OT what usually helps and what your child finds hard.

Will I be involved in therapy?

Yes. Your observations help shape therapy. You can ask why we’re trying an activity, discuss what’s changing, or tell us when an idea doesn’t fit your family’s routines.

How soon could we start?

It depends on your suburb, your child’s needs and therapist availability. We’ll reply to your enquiry within two days and let you know about suitable options and expected timing.

Do you work with NDIS and private families?
